Soia Monotaga Siania Pauulu passed away at the age of 62 on February 2, 2022 at 1:52pm in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although Soia was born in American Samoa, her family moved to hawaii where she excelled in both academics and extra curricular activities. She attended the Mid-Pacific Institute on a volleyball scholarship, won the Samoan Student Athlete of the Year award, elected Student Body President, voted May Day Queen, and graduated with Honors at the top of her class in 1978. While attending college, she worked alongside her father until she was hired at Mid Pacific Airlines. It was while playing volleyball she met the love of her life, Pio Pauulu. They were married in April 1981, and were blessed with children soon after.
Soia is predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Punefu and Mua'au Siania, and her daughter Tauvale Germaine; she is survived by Her Beloved husband, Pio Pauulu; her two sisters, Musuai Siania and Feagaimaleata Siania-Epenesa, and four brothers, Toetu Solaita, Leopeni Siania, Christian Siania and Tofigatele Siania. Her legacy lives on through her six children, Musuai Pauulu, Oikoumene Pauulu (Danielle), Tafilele Pauulu (Amber), Pio Pauulu (Leilani), Gerrica Pauulu (Christopher), and Punefu Pauulu (Kanani); and 24 grandchildren (yes 24!!). Her love cultivates in her hanai children Ashley Salausa, Matile Savaiinaea, Mataio Meredith, Maleko Meredith, Gafa Muafono, Cheryl Ou, Nikki Toetu, Nathan Yadao and Bernard Alo; her memory lives on through the countless individuals who were nurtured by Soia’s motherly love and guidance, and the many more who became fast and forever friends wherever she went.
Service will be held on Friday March 4, 2022 at the Green Valley Methodist Church: 2200 Robindale Rd, Henderson, Nevada 89074. Public visitation is at 9:00am, and Service is from 10:00am til 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Palm Mortuary at 1:00pm, and a gathering back at the church thereafter.
